Innovation (seminar at Binus International)

Yesterday, Nov 24^th 2011, My friends & I went to Binus International in Senayan City to join the seminar about Innovation. What’s so appealing from the seminar?? It was the speaker who came from Microsoft Indonesia and Google Indonesia. I said to myself : “Woow..!! How can I miss such big opportunity as an IT student. I’m so glad to have the opportunity, Thanks God :)

There were 4 of us and we went there by taxi from Binus Anggrek. The seminar was planned to begin at 9 AM but it actually began at 9.30 AM. In that thirty minutes, Binus International provided Coffee Break. We enjoyed the Coffee Break, it was delightful..

At 9.30 AM we’re allowed to enter the seminar room already. The room is not so big but it is very cozy. 4 of us sat in the front row. Beside we from Binus Anggrek, the participants also came from Binus International Students and The Lecturers. Then the seminar began..

The first session was brought by Microsoft Indonesia. The speaker was Ms Chrisma Albandjar – Director of Corporate Affairs Microsoft Indonesia and her partner Mr Ferro Ferizka – Microsoft IT.  The title was Microsoft: Innovation for Future. In the talk, Ms Chrisma explained about what innovation is, Microsoft’s approach for innovation, Intellectual Property Rights, Steps for Innovation, etc. In the end of her presentation, she showed us the video of Microsoft’s Future Health Vision. It is such an amazing video that made me speechless.. (Man..!! awesome!! 4 thumbs up). 

Next, it was Mr Ferro’s turn to give presentation about one of Microsoft’s Innovation which is Kinect. Kinect has been officially recorded in Guiness World Book of Records as The Fastest-Selling Consumer Electronic Device. Apparently Kinect can also be used in computer, not only for Xbox. Kinect is being called as NUI (Natural User Interface) where user can give command just like how they act naturally. Kinect was embedded with software, so you can program the Kinect as you wish. In that occasion, Mr Fero programmed the Kinect so he just needed to wave his hand and the slide will go to the next page. There are many implementations of Kinect and you can find the examples in google ;)

The last was Google’s turn. The speaker was Mr Henky Prihatna as Indonesia’s Country Consultant for Google. The title was Innovation with Google. In his presentation, he shared about Internet Fact, Google’s notions of innovation and told us Google’s New Innovation which are Google+ and Chrome OS. What is Google+? It is the new social networking media launced by Google. And about Chrome OS? It is an innovative Operating System created by Google. He also showed us the videos.

Ahh.. So Innovative, amazing companies.

The last session was Q&A and I managed to ask one question hehehe…

The seminar ended at 11.30 AM. After the seminar, we took pictures with Ms Chrisma and Mr Henky. One more favorable thing is that Binus International provided lunch, we were so grateful and had lunch before we went home.

It was such a great day, and happy day. Love the seminar!

Unexpected Syahdan Feast

Thanks God, what a delightful lunch I had today :-).

My lunch was supposed to be just eating Nasi Padang + mineral water but it turned out to be Nasi Kailan Cah Sapi + Chicken Steamed Rice + Melon Juice + Ice Cream.

Surprised?? haha..

So how can this be? Here's the story.... :-)

At 1pm. My friend Andreas and I planned to eat Nasi Padang near Binus Square. 

We have runned out of money, so we decided to withdraw some money from ATM BCA in Binus Square.

Apparently... the ATM was error so it couldn't be used. We asked the security and he suggested us to go to ATM Mandiri not far from Binus Square. When we asked the security in ATM Mandiri, he said BCA card can't be used. At this point, I said to Andreas that we should go to ATM BCA in our campus.

Finally we go there by metromini 91.

After we have arrived at Anggrek campus and withdrawed our money, we discussed about what we should eat. Then, Andreas suggested to eat at Waroeng Kitoe in Jl. Syahdan. Jl. Syahdan is just like a huge food court because from every side of the street you can find different kinds of food.

We went to Waroeng Kitoe and my order are: Nasi Kailan Cah Sapi (IDR 15,000) + Melon Juice (IDR 7,000) while Andreas' is Paket 1 (IDR 15,500) which is Nasi Goreng Keju + Teh Botol Sosro.

When our order arrived, I felt the portion was very small and thus, Andreas and I were not full after eating those but the food was delicious so at the very least we were still satisfied (If the food wasn't delicious I might became very angry hhehe..). I said to Andreas "let's go find another stuff to eat". He agreed and then our journey in Syahdan continued.

I decided to eat Chicken Steamed Rice (IDR 12,000) at Nasi Hainam House in Jl. U, but Andreas decided to eat Pancake at Pansuree, so we splitted up and ate by ourselves. The Chicken Steamed Rice was delicious and I felt very satisfied after eating it. After that, we met up and walked while chatting. I remembered that I have to refill my credit (pulsa) so I stopped by a credit kiosk and refill for IDR 12,000. At that time, Andreas noticed a Fruit Juice stall and went there to buy Sop Buah. The Fruit Juice Stall was in front of Alfamart. While waiting for Andreas I went inside Alfamart and bought an ice cream (IDR 3,000).

I said to Andreas: "Wow!! what an unexpected event.., we are having a feast for our lunch."

Finally after we finished, we went home to Binus Square by metromini 91.

My expense was: 15,000 + 7,000 + 12,000 + 12,000 + 3,000 = 49,000

Oww... It's such a crazy expense for one and a half hour in Syahdan.

Yeah, It's so unexpected in a good way. haha

After we arrived at Binus Square the ATM was fixed already. (what the..??)

I guess.. I will have a fast instead of dinner tonight ;P

I wonder what kind of crazy temptation drove us like that.. haha

my money.... :'(

Hmm but It's ok for one time right?..

This blog, I have planned to create it since I entered university but it was postponed until now.

Finally (thanks God) I can publish this blog.

It was worth to make this blog in my leisure time.

Now, I can share my stories and experiences during my university year.

I hope I can recall my past stories and share it here too.

Ahhh... finally initiated..
